Wiper / Washer System

Description

All models are equipped with 2-speed wipers. A standard or optional intermittent feature is also available. The wiper control is the right lever on the steering column. Some models are equipped with a rear wiper/washer system.

Wiper Blade Adjustment

To adjust wiper blade park position, ensure wiper motor is at park position. Remove plastic caps from base of wiper arm. Loosen retaining nut. Adjust the wiper blade(s) above lower edge of windshield as specified.

  • Front wiper blades should be 2.8 inches above the lower edge of the windshield.
  • Rear wiper blades should be 1.0 inche above the lower edge of the rear window.

Tighten wiper arm retaining nut. Replace plastic cap.

Front Wiper Motor Removal & Installation

Remove wipers, arms and shaft nuts. Remove glove box and instrument cluster. Remove wiper linkage rods by extending fully to passenger side. Unplug wiring connector. Remove wiper bracket bolts and bracket. Remove crank arm, 3 bolts and wiper motor.

To install, connect motor wiring, run motor and allow arm to park. Align crank arm and linkage rod as shown. Reverse removal procedure to install.

Rear Wiper Motor Removal & Installation

Remove inner trim panel on rear hatch. Unplug wiring connector, and pry linkage off motor crank arm. Remove motor crank arm, motor bolts and motor.

Install crank arm in correct position. Ensure motor is in Park and install wiper blade arm. Reverse removal procedure to complete installation.
